Muhammad Yuanda Zara is a lecturer at the History Study Programme, Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In 2010-2014 he worked as a PhD researcher at NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocidestudies in Amsterdam. He holds a master’s degree from Leiden University (2010) and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam (2016). His research interests are among others the history of modern Indonesia, Dutch colonialism and Japanese occupation in Indonesia, media and conflict, and Islam in 20^th century Indonesia. His works have been published in such journals as Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde/Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences of Southeast Asia, Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis, and Journal of Indonesian Islam.
